Wojtek Psiuk

 

graduated Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in Pawel Gusnar’s class. In academic year 2011/2012 he has been holder of Erasmus Scholarship at the Konservatorium Wien Privatunversitat, in Lars Mlekusch’s class and graduated Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, in Daniel Gauthier’s class.

 

He participated in many master classes with: Arno Bornkamp (Holland), Vincent David (France), Jean-Marie Londeix (France), Claude Delangle (France), Oto Vrhovnik (Austria), Lawrence Gwozdz (USA), Otis Murphy (USA), Günter Priesner (Germany), Claus Olesen (Denmark), Jan Schulte – Bunert (Germany), Jerome Laran (France), Paweł Gusnar (Poland), Andrzej Rzymkowski (Poland), Bernard Steuer (Poland), Radosław Knop (France), Dragan Sremec (Croatia), Krzysztof Herder (Poland), Jerzy Główczewski (Poland) and Tomasz Szukalski (Poland).

 

Wojtek Psiuk played at many festivals: La Folle Journée, Warsaw Autumn, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival, Wratislavia Cantans, Sacrum Profanum, Warsaw Musical Meetings, Festival “In the land of Chopin”, International Saxophone Festival in Przeworsk, Summer Concerts at Grochowska St. (by Sinfonia Varovia), Tempus Paschale Festival, Portraits of Composers (by Polish Composer Association), Space of Silence Festival, Animi Music Festival, International Festival of Young Winners of Music Competitions (by “Silesia” Institution) and “Garden of talents” (by “Towards the art” Association). He was also the guests of live radio broadcast “Five c’clock” conducted by Agata Kwiecińska in II Program of Polish Radio. He played as a soloist with Silesian Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestra of Frederic Chopin Music University in Warsaw. He also cooperated with many orchestras: Sinfonia Varsovia, Warsaw Philharmonic, Aukso, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Polish Narional Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Iuventus, Silesian Philharmonic, Płock Symphony Orchestra and Zabrze Philharmonic.

 

He executed many premiere performances, cooperating with such composers as: Wojciech Błażejczyk, Zbigniew Bagiński, Edward Sielicki, Dariusz Przybylski, Rafał Janiak, Wojciech Blecharz, Paweł Przezwański, Tomasz Jakub Opałka, Krzysztof A. Janczak, Mikołaj Majkusiak. He created ensembles: Morpheus Saxophone Quartet, Fluent Ensemble and Psiuk & Dębicz Duo.

 

He has won many awards as soloist and chamber musician: 2nd Prize – VII National Wind Competition „Etiuda 2009” – Szczecin, 2nd Prize – National Wind Competition „Miniatura 2005” – Bydgoszcz, 4th Prize – V National Saxophone Festival – Przeworsk, 1st Prize – V International Accordion Competition – Giżycko, 1st Prize – Accordion Festival – Mława, 2nd Prize – International Accordion Competition – Klingenthal, 2nd Prize – VIII International Competition of Light Music – Sanok, 2nd Prize – II Big band Festival – Bydgoszcz, 1st Prize – National Accordion Competition – Chełm.

 

In 2012 he became a laureate of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship „Young Poland”.
